Usage on commercial servers

We're happy to hear that more and more commercial servers are using SCNX! Unfortunately, hosting thousands of bots is not cheap. Due to this and in accordance with our Terms of Service, we require commercial servers to purchase our Professional Plan (which includes a bunch of useful features, like complete Off-Branding).

success

To allow new companies and small companies to growth, we only enforce these guidelines for servers with over 500 members (including bots).

What counts a commercial usage?

We understand that the question which server should be considered as commercial might be difficult to answer, so every reported server will be reviewed carefully by our team before enforcing these guidelines. When making these decisions, we use the following rule to assess servers: Every server that is directly or indirectly affiliated with entities (like companies, humans, …) that have commercial objectives, is considered commercial.

Here are some examples of commercial severs that might be considered as commercial:

  • Support-, Advertisement- or Community-Discord of a company (or other commercial entity).
  • Official Community Discord of a monetized, active Content-Creator (like Twitch Affiliates).
  • Servers with stores (e.g., selling roles), including Patreon or Discord Memberships. Discord Boosting (even with rewards for boosters) is excluded.
  • Servers that accept donations or similar financial aids from members (unless they are registered as a non-profit). Organising Fundraising activities for registered non-profits is excluded.
  • Community- oder Support-Discords for Minecraft Servers that have a shop.

Please note: Discords with less than 500 members are never considered to be commercial. This rule only applies when we review a report of your server. Existing categorizations will not be removed when your server goes below the 500-member mark after being already flagged for being commercial.

What happens when my server has been flagged for being commercial?

Before taking any action, we'll carefully review the report that most likely was submitted by another SCNX user. If we can confirm the reported details, we'll flag your server as commercial internally. If you already have a Professional Plan, nothing else will happen. If you don't SCNX will send you a DM with additional details and you won't be able to use SCNX services on that server until you purchase a Professional Plan or the commercial flag gets removed from your server.

If you think that you were wrongly flagged for being commercial, please follow the instructions below.

I use SCNX on a commercial server

Cool, thanks for using SCNX and good luck with your project! ❤️

If you have less than 500 members on your Discord, no additional steps are necessary - grab a coffee and invest your time growing your project.

Even if you have more than 500 members, you don't need to "self-report". Simply purchase a Professional Plan and make sure that it doesn't expire. Thanks for supporting us.

If you have more than 5.000 members, your usual SCNX Bot might not have enough resources to run smoothly. In such a case, contact [email protected] and we'll work with you to come to an agreement - we're always happy to hear from you.

Report others' usage on commercial servers

  • You can easily submit a report via our (German) webform.
  • You can also e-mail [email protected] with the Server-ID and images showing the use on commercial servers.

Appeal a commercial flag

info

The 500-member rule only applies to the first categorization, meaning that if you fall below the threshold after being categorized as commercial, we won't be able to remove your commercial flag.

If you think that your server has been wrongly categorized as being commercial, contact us at [email protected] with the following details: Server-ID, Invite to your server and an explanation why our initial assessment was wrong.

Our Terms of Service allows us to freely decide what servers count as being commercial and that such servers require the purchase of a Professional-Plan. It also gives us the right to deactivate servers that we've assessed to be commercial, and that lack an active Professional-Plan.
